There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked DutchGroningen (7-13) defeated at home higher ranked Belgian Okapi Aalst (13-9) 91-84 on Sunday. Groningen made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Groningen outrebounded Aalst 35-21 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Tavian Dunn-Martin (173-1998, college: FGCU) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Czech-Canadian center James Karnik (206-1998, college: Boston Coll., agency: Players Group) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Groningen's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Niels Van Den Eynde (179-2000) came up with 22 points and 8 assists and Bosnian forward Njegos Sikiras (205-1999, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Aalst in the defeat. Five Groningen and four Aalst players scored in double figures. Groningen moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser Okapi Aalst keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Charleroi.
